Why I Started Ninara

Ninara began as a question I kept asking myself: why is it so hard to find clothes that feel like they were made by someone who cared?

Not care in the marketing sense. The real kind — the kind that shows up in the fall of a fabric, in the way a seam lies flat, in the decision to source from a specific weaver in Kolkata because no one else gets that particular drape.

I spent years in fashion, and the more I saw, the more frustrated I became. Beautiful textiles reduced to trend cycles. Artisan work hidden behind brand logos. Women settling for clothes that were fine but never felt special.

Ninara is my answer. A shop where everything has a reason to be there. Where you can ask me about any piece and I'll tell you exactly where it came from, who made it, and why I chose it.

The name comes from a Sanskrit word meaning water — the still, clear kind. That's the quality I want in everything we do: calm, considered, and transparent.
